No two organizations are the same, but their challenges often are.

Organizations of all types and sizes, both commercial and not-for-profit, wrestle with similar problems—industry evolution, regulatory challenges, growing (or shrinking) pains, changing customer expectations, and uncertainty about how to position themselves for the future.

Mimi Falbo LLC is a consulting firm focused on supporting clients in meeting their challenges to achieve the best possible outcomes in both product quality and financial results. Using our Lean tools and thinking as well as best practices in financial and business planning, our clients have achieved measurable outcomes in projects ranging from customer service initiatives to long-range strategic planning.

We work with clients in private sector business and industry as well as in public and private health care and the not-for-profit arena. While based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we work locally, nationally, and internationally.

Our Approach to Strategic Planning Consultation

Our work at Mimi Falbo, LLC is based on three key values:

  1. Respect for all people
  2. Continuous improvement
  3. Actionable results

The combination of these values and a long history of working for improvements in diverse fields, including mental health care, physical health care, education, child development, and housing, leads us to a uniquely holistic and action-oriented approach to consulting.

1. If you have a stake in the organization, we want to know what you know.

Our respect for all people leads us to be meticulously inclusive of all involved in the workings of an organization, both internal and external. We believe that those doing the work often have excellent ideas and information about how to improve the processes and outcomes they work with daily. Managers, customers, families, funders, political activists, politicians, volunteers, and others all lend a perspective. Fusing the input and data from the wide array of individuals that touch an organization’s services or a business’s products creates a framework for visualizing not only the current state of our clients’ business but the ideal state as well.

2. Whatever your organization’s current state, it can be better.

We have borrowed and modified the tools of Toyota/Lean systems to help those involved see their work in a new way and envision a better way. This system guides the users to clear, highly specified actions with measurable outcomes and assigned accountability. The value of continuous improvement is inherent in this system and supports continuous organizational learning and growth. The skills needed to support this type of work, including team learning, coaching, self awareness, and use of the tools, are also integrated into our consultative process.

3. Plans must lead to action that leads to results.

No matter how great a plan looks on paper, if it’s not actionable, or not put into action, it’s a waste of the talents of all involved. Our goal is that our clients are ready and equipped with all the tools and skills needed to implement their plan and react in a nimble, proactive, and effective manner to changes in the environment.

We also feel a real kinship to the leaders of the organizations we serve, knowing they often function with limited resources and unlimited need. Part of our mission, through our services, is to lighten their load and help them achieve the outcomes they desire.
